Recommend me a good brand for SSDs.
ICH9 does indeed support AHCI. See page 4-13 of your user's guide for information on where the AHCI bios setting is.

Yes, I saw it a long time ago. It's wrong, my BIOS doesn't have AHCI option, only IDE.

Then that is something that Asus did to cripple your motherboard as the ICH9 DOES support AHCI. I have a couple of boards that have the ICH9 chipset and they all have AHCI. You'll need to contact Asus about that. I stopped using Asus boards years ago due to crap like this from them.

Ok, guys, I dug a little deeper and found out additional info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICH9#ICH9
Code:
82801IB ICH9 Base (ICH9) neither AHCI or RAID support
82801IR ICH9 RAID (ICH9R) with AHCI and RAID Support
82801IH ICH9 Digital Home (ICH9DH) with AHCI and no RAID Support
82801IO ICH9 Digital Office (ICH9DO) with AHCI and RAID Support
    82801IBM ICH9 Base Mobile (ICH9M)
    82801IEM ICH9 Enhanced Mobile (ICH9EM)
    82801IUX ICH9 Ultra Mobile (ICH9M-SFF)
My southbridge is ICH9, so I doesn't seem to support AHCI.
BUT see this: http://www.intel.com/Assets/PDF/datasheet/316972.pdf (page 54)
Code:
ICH9 Base provides hardware support for AHCI functionality when enabled by appropriate
system configuration and software driver.
That's confusing.

Going by what you posted, i would go with the intel website since they made that chip. Wiki can be edited by monkeys.

Also what that is saying "enabled by appropriate system configuration and software driver" is that the manufacture of the board has to enable it either thro the bios and have a driver for it, if Asus didnt lock it out, then you might just need a bios update and to get the driver from Intel.

Let's see whether I'm doing it right. In BIOS I go to "Main" --> "SATA Configuration" --> "Configure SATA As" --> and there is only "IDE" here. If I had AHCI, it must had been here, right?
Here is a video:

Also, the BIOS updates for this mobo only add new CPU and RAM support, nothing is mentioned about AHCI.

Try this. On my ASUS board, I think that's where it is. I think there's three options for "Enhanced", "Compatible", and "AHCI" (though AHCI stopped working on my hard disk drives for some reason, it makes the BIOS hang indefinitely when detecting my drives, and it's just with these drives it does it, odd...).

On my board there is "Enhanced", "Compatible" and "Disabled".
"Compatible" doesn't add more options to "Configure SATA as", only IDE again.

Ok, tell me which SSD brands are the best, in terms of low malfunction rates and less returned devices?
