What to buy: fast HDD or SSD ? - Page 4

Wikipedia is not a reliable source for much of anything. Anyone with access to the internet can edit the information on it and way too many people post wrong information and outright lies on it. Intel states that the ICH9 DOES have AHCI as long as the vendor (re: Asus in this case) implements it. If that option isn't there then Asus screwed you over which makes an SSD a less attractive option.

You need to worry about which ones support Garbage Collection first, then look into reliability as the reliability between the various brands are fairly close. Much closer than the reliability across mechanical hard drives.

Now most SSDs utilize SATA 3. My chipset supports SATA 2. Is it worth it to buy SATA 3 SSD? After all only the sequential read/write will be bottlenecked, right?
