BFG 9800 GX2 and Lag in BFBC2

I have been fighting with some other issues and wondering if it's related.

http://www.overclock.net/intel-gener...-year-old.html

Temps on this card are high anyways, 70 idle, 90+ when gaming. I can not set my resolution any higher than LOW in this game without lag at 1920x1200 setting. I have tried one setting lower 1600x~ something. And it really didn't help. This card is a powerful card and I find it hard to believe it can't handle this game. I also had lag in other games like Kalonline (free RPG like WOW).

If anyone can offer me advice on what to do, I really want to get these issues resolved that I have been fighting with for 6 months or more.

Have you tried taking apart and cleaning out your gpu and putting on better thermal paste?

Well originally I didn't want to take it apart because it had a "lifetime" warranty. But now BFG is gone, I guess I can. I have blown it out with my air compressor and it's pretty clean. Guess I can try to disassemble it if you think putting better thermal paste will help it? I have Artic Silver if that's good enough?

PS, I also tried to upgrade to the latest Nvidia drivers and I started to have white/black flashes on the screen. I had to go back to my older drivers. Two people I play with also had this same issue and had to go back on their other model nvidia cards.

If you havent replaced the paste before then ya any aftermarket paste will be better remember not to put too much on. It sounds like your gpu is over heating to me. after you put it back together I would run msi afterburner and msi kombustor. Watch the temps in afterburner while kombustor is running.

Also ya your kinda screwed on the warranty sorry man.

*edit* ya I have heard randomly of the newer drivers not playing well with older cards. I had a 9800gt that actually needed a bios upgrade before it would accept the new drivers

I'm playing BC2 on my old 9800GT at the moment, 1600x900 without lag.
Here's what I did:

Set the game settings to low (in-game)
Edit the settings.ini file (should be in your documents/BFBC2), and set the dxversion to 9
Go to the nvidia control panel, and force max pre-rendered frames to 0 (this helped a LOT!). It also caused minecraft to look like arse though...

Will try those settings. I just placed a order for the following items to help cooling in my case and try to make it a bit quieter. I wonder if I can upgrade my bios on my video card since BFG no longer exists? Any ideas?

1) Thermalright Venomous X - RT 120mm CPU Cooler
2) NZXT Sentry-2 5.25" Touch Screen fan controller
3) 4 "Thermalright X-Silent 120mm Silent Fan"
4) 2 "Thermalright X-Silent 140mm Silent Fan"
5) Arctic Silver 5 Polysynthetic Silver Thermal Compound - Thermal paste"

What's your CPU? Chances are its the cause of your lag, not your GPU.
