BFG 9800 GX2 and Lag in BFBC2 - Page 2

Okay at least you have an intel quad. You should be able to play it at at least medium with no drops in framerate though. I would do like others have said. Take apart your GPU and reapply thermal compound. Do a through cleaning and make sure thermal pads are in good shape. Also running your card with the shroud off can drastically lower temps. At this point I would speculate that your GX2 is hitting its thermal wall and is automatically clocking down in order to avoid damage. This vid might help:

I used to run the game on a dual core and GT 240, on DX 9 Highsettings 40fps.

Then I was using a 768mb GTX460 with a Quad High DX11 around 40-50fps

Now I'm using a 2GB HD6950 with a Quad Core getting around 60-80fps with maxed full AA and anisotropy.

I bet it'll do a lot. You could always sell that GX2. I bet theres a folder that would want it.

That looks about right, pretty much identical setup here (though my Q6600 runs at 3.6 GHZ), and my 6950 at 900 mhz (stock: 800).

I play at 2560x1440 and it "idles" at around 50-70 fps, with 2x msaa, 4x aniso. Worst drop I've seen was to 40 FPS.

Well finally some results....... To sum it up, I no longer lag in BC2 or Black ops with everything on MAXIMUM at 1920x1200! Damn I am happy! Not a bad OC for my setup and test results right?

Installed my new VisionTek 6970 ATI card today, and installed the latest drivers.

Here is what I am getting as a 3dmark11 after the video card install. Never could test it before because it only supports Directx 11.

And a 3dmark Vantage test. This test was 10100 before the install.

Then I decided what the hell and OC'd my cpu and memory. After testing it for stability, I found a stable frequency. Here is what it tested with 3dmark11 and Vantage.

Here are what my settings now with the OC for a Q8300 2.5ghz Quad Core...
