Windows 7 Professional for $29, any other way to get it?

I don't want to have to spend $100 to upgrade to Windows 7. My laptop has windows XP on it and I would like to upgrade to Windows 7. The only cheap price I found was $29 but you need to have a .edu e-mail, and they only give you those in college. I am still a year from college and I can't wait that long.

Are there any other ways to take advantage of that deal without having a .edu e-mail?

Its for students only - if you can prove your a student, just send them an e-mail with your proof, if youre not a student then you'll have to pay the standard upgrade fee

I am a high school student, does that count? Also, do they send you a physical CD and Product Key or what?

Does your high school give you a .edu e-maill account? If so, give it a try. It's a digital download, you can pay an extra fee, around $10 I think, to have them ship a disc out to you.

Nope. I go to a disgusting American HS and they don't give us anything.

With out being a college student you will just have to wait. If you go for anytype of computer courses tho Microsoft will make ALL of its software available to you for free. Atleast they did ta my college.

Try using Dreamspark and provide proof that you are a high school student/see if you can get your school on the approved list. Then download Windows Server 2008 R2, and use that and make it act like whatever Windows 7 you want. That is an alternative.

I did that before I had a college e-mail, I used my High School ID and they approved me.

I needed 2 copies of windows 7, so I used my .edu and my gf's .edu.

Do you know anyone with a .edu address? Seems to be the best about it.

Don't order it. It doesn't go from xp to 7. It's a dumb disc that allows you to upgrade from Windows 7 home to pro. That's it.
