What to do with current HDD setup if I get SSD

Hi all,

Newbie question here:

I currently have two 1.5tb Caviar Blacks running in RAID-1 on Windows 7 64-bit. All my files are on this drive.

If I decide to get an SSD, do I just set it as the default boot drive, load up Windows 7 on it, and then delete the Windows program files on my 1.5tb drive?

OR

Will I need to backup my files on the 1.5tb drive to an external hard drive, format the 1.5tb drive, and then recopy them back? Do I need to do anything different to setup my Caviar Blacks in RAID-1 as a data drive?

Thanks.

I suppose you could do it that way but I feel like you will get many headaches from it. That is a very sketchy method and you will probably run into configuration issues such as windows not knowing where things are installed anymore. Your best bet is to format you SSD, run you windows 7 setup disc and install onto your SSD, and just forget all of you previous windows 7 setup files on your RAID 1 array.
