20ft HDMI cable?

Thread Starter
I want to use my GTX 460's HDMI slot on my 32' tv. The problem is that it's a ways away from my computer and mounting it to my wall is not an option at the moment. Also, I can't put my computer on the floor (I could, but it's carpet).

Will a 20ft HDMI cable produce a well enough signal or will I be hindered majorly?

20 feet will be perfectly fine.
It's when you hit over ~100 feet that you might start having problems.

I run a 20' and I've noticed abosultely no difference from my original 3' cable and I've actually looked really hard for any quality loss at 1080p. I now have the PC beside my Lazy-Boy and use it as mouse pad/coaster holder.

More like 30-50ft depending on cable.

You will need a high-quality cable to do 100ft.

Why can't you put your computer on the carpet floor? This confuses me....

Just for the record, I've ran 100 foot cables from monoprice at a few houses, and I've personally noticed no signal degradation.
As long as you go for the 22 AWG, there should be no issues.

I picked up the 24AWG 24 footer from eBay and its very hefty... but it cost $11+shipping lol

No signal degredation from the 6 foot i use, which i compared to a $300 monster cable from Best Buy

Looks the same on a 60" Plasma

I picked up two 15 footers for $1.50 each haha. They work great. Never understood why people pay more than $10 for even shorter cables.

Monoprice cables tend to be decent.

I mean I can, but I don't want to. I like to keep my computer at a high elevation. It's just something I've always done.
