If I do get a 6950, which is the way to go? TFIII or DCII?
Either one works well, the DCII is a triple slot cooler and the TF III is dual slot. However, I would go at least Crossfire 6950 2GB because going from a single 5870 to a single 6950 will hardly show much of a performance increase.

I never had any troubles with my 5870's running that resolution. I agree totally with someone in this thread that going to the 6970 is more of a "side-grade" rather than an upgrade. I absolutely loved my cross fired 5870's when I had them. Never an issue.

I totally didn't respond to this ad to sell you something, but I've got a couple barely used 5870's that I've been meaning to post up and sell. PM me on the side if you decide to go that route.

Do you figure I should pick up a second 5870 for crossfire, or go up to a 6950 or 6970 for the extra vram and sell my 5870?

TIA

Isn't going from CF'd 5870's to SLI'd 480's kind of a side grade as well?
Hahaha. I'll keep you in mind if I decide to go with another 5870 (or 2)

6970s would be better than 6950s as a lot don't unlock now.

Lol, that rig description is SO out of date. I never really thought anyone paid attention to those stats and/or updated their own because I sure as hell haven't!
