I wish Intel would out-source their heatsink development to AMD. I would love five minutes alone with the dink(s) that thought that mount up. That stock cooler is actually pretty good looking...we'll see how it performs. I am going to guess it will be at least as good as any $40 cooler on Newegg

I'd say "touché" but the duel-fan config wasn't one of the options. heh

Yeah, IDK what kind of drugs they were taking, but AMDs CPU cooler coupling is much simpler. ^_^ Also, many Intel coolers are craptastic. Any good ones out there? I guess I'm getting a bit off-topic.

A fan pushing into a heatsink is more effective, not pulling air out of a heatsink. You guys read rubbish it seems. Why do you think almost all HSF's use that setup? As for it dropping temps, I doubt it really although it maybe worth a try.

The AMD stock coolers are pretty good. Just had a play with the fan on mine. By bridging the temp sensor it hit 6600RPM, pretty beastly. Also the stock HSF for the hexa cores are slightly different.

Also I agree, AMD's mounting system if far better than Intels.

The AMD one will outperform the Gigabyte.

It has an impressive performance!!

but...

...it is also impressively loud xD

Well, before I go goofing with the fan orientation, I'll just swap the cooler first. I'll post the results, as promised.

I bet that a lapped stock cooler would STOMP. I'd have to ditch the stock fan for a quieter one tho.
Do the TIM thing with better tim on both coolers, but dont change the fans, the fans have to be the ones that came on them for this experiment to work well. Because the cooler is the control, and that includes its fan, the variable is the cooler type. Basic science here guys haha!

Yah, one variable at a time. I know. IDK if I have the means to accomplish decent lapping at this time, but I'm going to do it sooner or later. I have a lot on my plate now...

I'm looking forward to these results as I have a P2 x2 555 unlocked to x3 oc'd to 3.9 that I'm thinking of useing my stock cooler from my 955, and lapping might help with the temps for 24/7 folding
