Force Vsync (ATI)

Thread Starter
Is there a way to force Vsync on (in games without a vsync option) with my card? There's obviously no option through the ATI panel, and I'm pretty positive Rivatuner doesn't work with the 6xxx series.

There is an option in catalyst control center.

It's called "Wait for vertical refresh" and you can slide it to "Always on".

Should have clarified. I downloaded the new drivers, so there is no more CCC. It's the new AMD Vision Engine Control Center, and I can't find a vsync option anywhere.

edit: I'm a complete idiot. When the new interface installed, I forgot to set it back to advanced view. :| Sorry if you wasted your time reading this thread, lol.

I'm confused - what version did you download?

If you install Rivatuner you'll find there's a sub-directory under it's main install directory created called D3DOverrider. Copy this entire folder directly under Program Files, and then create a desktop shortcut to the D3DOverrider.exe file contained therein. Then you can uninstall Rivatuner, as it's not needed for D3DOverrider to work, and RT itself really doesn't work anymore anyways, as you've noted in the OP.

Then run the application from your shortcut, and you'll find options in there to force v-sync and triple-buffering. You can have it run at windows startup if you like as well. It's very much a 'sure-fire' method to get v-sync to work on every game.

I dunno, that's weird. The interface is virtually the same as CCC though, I just forgot to go back to advanced view.

You should be able to enable VSync through CCC, for games.

Gaming -> 3D Application Settings -> "Wait for vertical refresh" to "Always on"

Not sure if it works, haven't tried it.

I've been using this method for years now and have no issues aside from some rare windows programs that don't like the triple buffering. I didn't know it would run w/o RT installed though.
