There is something terribly wrong in the chunk near my house. In that particular area around my house, and only in that area around my house I suddenly start getting DCed any time I go near it. I can be near the spawn and get no lag, but as I gradually get closer to the house I get connection reset and end of stream errors, I think that chunk is broken. Someone griefed and loaded like 500+ mine carts in the area behind my house and Rev deleted them, but the lag/disconnect problem for me still persists.

I'm not sure but I think someone spawn a ton of slimes underground in that chunk or something. Ran into this problem on another server and it turned out there were over 5000 slimes in that chunk.

OK well I can fix that if someone can show me where the chunk is.

Its the chunk right around my house, or right around the Kirby near the spawn area. This is crimsonedge11. And this problem only started last night, and I get end of stream errors if I go anywhere near my house. It still persists. Its really strange, no lag at all anywhere else on the map. I'm certain that someone altered that chunk of the map to make it super laggy, but nobody else seems to have a problem in that area but me, which is kinda odd. I have deleted minecraft and reinstalled it, just in case it was something on my end that got corrupted, but nothing I do on my end seems to be helping. I was using a texture pack, and tried the game without it, and also tried setting the view distance or normal, doesn't make any difference. I can warp to my house, within 10 secs I get end of stream error, its repeatable every time. Also same thing if I walk there from the spawn. I also noticed my FPS drop significantly in that area, I normally get 150+ FPS, but in that area it drops to around 35-40 for me. I allocated 4gb of ram to minecraft, which is more than plenty.

I think I just fixed it. I removed about 4000 minecarts. Try now.

Its better now. Those 4000 mine carts were causing the lag for me. Who put those there anyway? Is that considered griefing?

yes, I would consider placing that many minecarts a form of griefing since it is a well known fact minecarts if abused can stress a server

Kirby, I'm not sure if its still active but there were some bukkit plugins that delete unused minecarts after X minutes, i think it was called minezap or cart zap or something like that

Good to know, thanks. I will be checking the log to see who issues the minecart command, and they will be banned.

nice, I'm surprised the server was able to handle 4000 minecarts. They pretty much act as a person sometimes, loading chunks and stuff putting undue stress on the server
