I don't, but if it's vastly worth it, I'm all for it. I just need something that mild winds won't blow it away, or it could be easily knocked over. Looking for best bang for buck. I'll get the more expensive one, I'll be waiting another two weeks though.

Get the Calumet one I linked previously. That's easily best bang for buck.

Any idea how that would compete with http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...um_Tripod.html ?

I saw it at my local camera shop. Not exactly the best at being stable but it was pretty good for how light weight it was. Should I go for that or still stick with the Calumet? I like how easy it was to manage the legs, not redundantly twisting every few inches.

5.6lbs maximum support is way too little for me. Usually you'd want to keep the maximum support weight higher than you'd need for stability, since maximum support weight =/= maximum weight at which the tripod will stay stable.

I like Giottos, but at that weight I'd forget about ever mounting heavy L-lenses like the 70-200mm.

Two I just found: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...num_Alloy.html
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...es_Tripod.html

The Vanguard one is lighter and supports the same weight the Camulet one does.
I did see Vanguard at the local shop, and they seemed pretty decent. I also found a Manfrotto one at the shop and loved it, besides how darn heavy it was. I've seen a few Manfrotto's on BH but they all seem to come with a ball head, instead of like a 3 way pan.

Just a thought, should I wait until Friday(payday) on the tripod, and buy something like a Gitzo off eBay for like $300-$400? As well as buying a panhead?

EDIT: Just ordered the Nifty Fifty, Rode VidMic, and Kata D-3N1-22 bag. Should be here the same day my camera comes in, nice!
