Getting Updated and Set Up for the Challenge, help?

Thread Starter
Right-o.

So in the past 4 years or so i believe i've been folding (and especially the last year or so) i've just kind of set my client, forgot about it, and that's that. I have not paid a whole lot of attention to the Folding@Home section. Just kept accruing points (and didn't even check my stats but every few months. I'm currently at like 4.9 million).

I've been paying enough attention that i've noticed recently a new client came out with new bells and whilstles. I am in the team competition, and zodac said not to update at that time, so i didn't. Plus, my good ol' trusty console client was chugging along without problems, netting me 11k ppd. Don't fix it if it ain't broke.

Now, I'm thinking this would be a good chance for me to get all my F@H goodies updated, so i can get me set up for the Chimp Challenge i've been participating in for the last 2 years. Could someone point me in the direction of what client i need to download to get updated? I'm also not very savvy on the whole passkey thing. But i'll certainly be pulling my weight for the CC biggrin.gif

Thanks guys.

Client v7 Guide/Download Link

Use this passkey when you're setting up the client: fe4ad3d7c2360a8cda89eaeab2b541f2.

Or, since you have no AMD GPUs, the Tracker would suit you quite nicely. It's pretty much a set it and leave it client, since Client v7 may still have bugs that affect you:

I'd recommend listening to z, for once, and leaving it as it is. If you're netting 11K PPD, leave it at that, with the client you've got

All you need to do is run the -configonly flag, and change your username and passkey, as per the link in my sig thumb.gif

Are you saying since i've got no AMD GPU's I should probably use Tracker instead of the V7 client?

For the CC, yes, I'd recommend people stay clear of Client v7 unless they have AMD GPUs. It won't help us to be dealing with client issues for the next couple of weeks.

my sig? You've got 3 random quotes, another random line of text, and two random links. Mine is comparatively simple

mines hidden though tongue.gif

The two "random links" are threads that i've started which I thought people might apriciate and the quotes are ones that made me laugh.
