World of Warcraft bandwidth use

Thread Starter
Hi, as some of you who have read my older threads might know, I live in a low-bandwidth area, and am stuck with Hughesnet. No surprise, Hughesnet is terrible for gaming. So, I'm looking for some info about how much bandwidth WoW uses, because I'm thinking about getting one of the mobile-data plans Verion offers. The plan offers 2GB a month, and I expect the whole 2GB to be used for WoW GAMEPLAY. Patching will be done through Hughesnet.

tl;dr: How much bandwidth does WoW use, and will a 2GB/ month plan be sufficient?

No, he is capped meaning he can only download 2gb of data a month. That's not much. Do you have WoW installed on your computer now and patched up? If you don't then that might be a problem. There were a lot of patches and they were pretty big.

Yes. Like hell. 400 MB a day, but unlimited from 2-7 AM. As stated below, lag is the main problem.

Yeah, it's installed, and with Hughesnet, I have unlimited bandwidth from 2-7 AM. The main problem is lag. I get 3-4 second lag, which makes the game simply unplayable.

You can easily blow up 2 GB data plan with about ~35 hours of playing or so.

IIRC WoW uses 10-15 KB/sec or so.
The figure above is for 15.

Yeah, satellite internet is never good for latency. If you want, run a ping test and give us the results.

Well, I also have access to my dad's phone to use, which gives me another 2GB at my disposal, and he's thinking about buying PDAnet, which offers free tethering that's (supposedly) unaffected by the 2GB/ month cap.

Well it looks like I have my answer.
Thanks for your input, all.
I think I'll just be playing League of Legends from now till I move out... That, or until Comcast stops screwing with me and denying us service...
Thanks again!
