ATI 4890CF Best drive series.

Thread Starter
Ive been running the latest drivers 11.4 with updated APP. These drivers have been having some issues with alot of games, such as more FPS with CF disabled in BC2. I was curious if anyone knew why it is the 10.x series drivers seem to yield better results than the newest 11.x series.

10.5 are the best for crossfire, maybe they're the best for a single card as well.

Edit, oh, you've got two.. great. 10.5 works great.

Only problem is texture flickering sometimes on the new maps in bc2. What's funny is that it happens for all crossfire users at the same time (48xx). When I'm playing with my buddy who had 4860 crossfire we would get the flickering at the exact same time.. weird.

I don't know.. you think they wouldn't change the part of the driver that dealt with the 4xxx series and just tweaked what was needed.

right? and is it probably gonna stay that way as far as 10.5 being the best? i mean whats the point in making an 11.x series for 4xxx series when they suck lol

I'm getting away from crossfire as soon as the 7xxx drops... I haven't been overly impressed.

Well as for 10.5 being the best maby it is for the 4000 series. As for the 5000 series the newest drivers have preformed the best for me in benchmarks it seems amd is leaving the 4000 series out in the cold

I agree. I had different crossfired 48XX cards and only once could I get them to really take off. I opted to just get a 5850 locally used over dealing with my 4870, but now i can't get ride of it.

Easy answer mate. I have both CFX HD4890 XXX and CFX HD5870 XXX and I notice how with every revision optimization for these is phased out. I've been waiting for years to solve issues with 4 cards and AMD does not solve them. People on OCN praise how good AMD drivers are for the 6 series. They could be but I ask you, what about us??
