I installed everything on the list but now when I run POL from the terminal I get this:

import wxversion, os, getopt, sys, urllib, signal
ImportError: No module named wxversion

I'm going to assume you uninstalled the previous stuff first and then just used the Slackbuilds so there's no "spaghetti" lying around (iirc kpackage is a good way to check with "file list") so we're on the same page. It seems to me I ran "wincfg" to set "windows version" to "2003" but then reset to "XP" for World of Warcraft. However defaults should be fine for PlayOnLinux. I never ran POL from terminal since a menuitem appeared under "Games" and it works fine. It's a shell script as it appears in "/usr/bin" so you might want to check that it properly points to it's real location in "usr/share/playonlinux".

I just this moment ran it from CLI and this is my output
Code:
 enorbet@homebase3:~$ playonlinux
PlayOnLinux v3.8.8

Checking plugin: Advanced Wine Configuration...
Checking plugin: Offline PlayOnLinux...
Checking plugin: Capture...
Checking plugin: Transgaming Cedega...
Checking plugin: Wine Import...
Checking plugin: Wine Look...
Checking plugin: Detour...
and it again runs fine. I'll look in my logs because iirc I ran winetricks before I ran POL and I can't recall why at the moment. BTW I installed the 2 or 3 optional sub dependencies from SlackBuilds.org but I don't know if that affected POL at all. Bottom Line in less than 0.5 hours I had a complete working wine including WOW and POL. FWIW I'm using a slightly newer custom kernel (2.6.38-rc2y) primarily for my oddball soundcard but also for low latency RealTime support but that should make me slightly less stable and more cutting edge than the default kernel.

Of possibly greater importance is I am running 32 bit Slack 13.37 so be certain you have the compatibility libraries installed because IIRC Wine is largely 32 bit. Anyway...just woke up so I will look into this when I'm coherent.

I am using Slackware64 but I installed all the 32-bit libraries so it's multi-lib. I got WINE working perfectly but I'm still getting that error with POL.

I also tried starting POL from the menu item but it just hangs for a while and then closes without ever starting up.

Hmmmm wondering about that error message tagged to python.. I wonder if you have some conflicting versions installed? I would look in /var/log/packages or run KPackage and look for multiples. It happens a lot when we install from source. The only caveat is that if you didn't use some app to create a package and just did "make install" it doesn't get tracked. So you might want to check what you can, and post what DE/WM you use and what you've installed with "make install"... or is this a fresh install? If it's fresh I would consider redoing it and using SlackBuilds for all you can.

I have 13.37 on 3 boxen, 2 fresh and one upgrade install, and POL runs on all 3 but you may have created a conflict. You can also contact Alien Bob and even Patrick Volkerding himself on LinuxQuestions in the Slackware section or on some IRC channels. Bob wrote 64bit so undoubtedly knows vastly more in that area than I. Wine can be nasty as it introduces entire layers of complexity but I have been very pleased with how much it seems to have improved.

Oh and did you get the 2 apps that were optional sub-dependencies?

I checked to see if there were any conflicting versions and I saw an older version of Python and removed it, but now I'm getting this:

Quote:
PlayOnLinux v3.8.8

which: no python in (/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin)
python is missing. Please install it before running PlayOnLinux.
I haven't installed anything using make install and I did get the 2 sup-dependencies.

Also, I'm using KDE. I my try re-installing Slackware altogether and start from scratch.

Since you didn't do any "make install"s, I see no reason to reinstall all though that would likely work. It looks to me at this point as simple as symlinking or $PATH echo'ing to set python and POL to talking in a civil fashion.

I got POL to find python in /usr/bin (Apparently python was called python3) but now I'm getting this:

Quote:
PlayOnLinux v3.8.8

File "/usr/share/playonlinux/python/question.py", line 47
print "Il manque des arguments"
^
SyntaxError: invalid syntax
/usr/share/playonlinux/lib/main: line 324: [: =: unary operator expected
I checked out "question.py" but I can't tell whats up with it because it's all in french.

Python 3 is rather different and backward incompatible to Python 2. You'll need to have Python 2 installed to run scripts designed for it.
