Watercooling my gtx 470

Hey guys, first time here, new to all this computer stuff.

I'm going to replace the fan on my graphics card with a water cooling pump.
My graphics card is a Nvidia Geforce GTX 470, and I am replacing the fan because it is very loud.

I found a helpful list online of the parts I will need. I will link them here.

http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/swmc12vdcpuw.html
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/dupvctu7id5o.html
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/big1sishfifo.html

Will these parts be compatible with my graphics card? Do you have any different recommendations? What other parts will I need to buy?

Most people would recommend the RASA kit for something simple and cost effective. It comes with the rad, res, tubing, pump, fittings, and cpu block. If you want to cool your gfx card also you will need a block for that. I don't think the 470 block comes with fittings, so you'd need some for it also. *edit* If you don't want to cool your cpu also, you could always sell it.

Rasa (240)
Ek Gtx 470 block

You don't seem to know a lot about water cooling (I don't either), so if I were you I would read some of the sticky posts so you can learn a bit more. Link to essentials thread below.
http://www.overclock.net/water-cooli...l-threads.html

*edit again*
If money is an issue you don't need a full cover block, a universal gpu block will do the trick. You will need to put some sinks on the vrm's though.

There are other options, some aftermarket coolers for graphics cards are quieter (or can be run at a lower rpm with the same cooling result). It's not going to cool as well as water, but it would probably be cheaper.

If you just want to quiet it down, get an aftermarket air cooler. Water is not cheap comparatively speaking. If you're after max overclocking potential and lowest temps, then water is for you. It should only cost about $50 and 30 minutes to slap on a decent air cooler that will give you much lower temps and noise.

EDIT:

User review over at EVGA Forums

Search for the VRM/RAM heatsink kit as well. It's like $10 and probably well worth it. Sidewinder has the cooler as well for about $10 cheaper but it's out of stock.

See above edit in my post. Just be aware that it's a large cooler. Like 2.5-3 slots vs just dual slot.

EDIT:

Looks like it's a bit cheaper from PlatinumMicro direct rather than Amazon.

EDIT 2:

Another reputable shop that also has the mount kit - FrozenCPU

water cooling your gtx 470 is whole new world in terms if temps, noise, and oc'ability.

As much as I love ek, I'm on the fence with their nickel GTX 470 blocks since I've had three already deteriorate (pending rma response) where the nickel seperated.

Suggestion for full cover gtx 470 block:
-EK copper (nickel, at your own risk, its possible it may have been addressed but reports are still arising)
-Kooalance GTX 470 block
-Heat Killer gtx 470 block (very pretty thing, I would have love to had these instead )
-Danger Den gtx 470
-Aquacomputer gtx 470 block

Scope the f/s threads for used ones or spend a bit more for a new one. If you are going with a universal vga block, I've had great success with the Supreme HF cpu block and the Supreme HF gpu block is not much different. Its nickel/plexi. Still running like a champ.

The Rasa kit and/or the rasa cpu block is also an excellent buy.

Yup, should be much quieter and lower temps without the hassle/expense of water (especially if you've never done it before). You might want to pick up some better thermal paste (like MX-2, MX-3, CM F400, OCZ Freeze, Shinetsu, etc etc) for like $6-10 for a couple more *C drop, but really it's not necessary. The Accelero comes with paste, just not the best paste.
