Act Now or Wait 2 Months?

So I had all my parts ready to order and asked my dad for the go ahead and he told me to wait until I'm done school (Mid to end of June). He's scared im going to get addicted to gaming . Right now I have a system that has:

i7 2600k
Asus P8P67 Deluxe
8gb G.Skill DDR3 1600 MHz
Asus GTX 580
Antex Truepower 750W Modular power
Asus CD/DVD Drive
Samsung Spinpoint 1TB 7200 RPM
Windows Home Premium
Nzxt Phantom
Total: $1650 Canadian

Is this a good deal? If I do go with this I have to order today because many of my products are from NCIX and they have a huge sale right now.

By June, will these components be cheaper?

Yes, that Asus CD/DVD drive will much cheaper in 2 months, during the summer, because many people are going on vacations and not using their CD/DVD drives. Don't buy it now, you will be wasting your money.

(Stuff will always get cheaper.)

If you've got the money to buy now, buy now. Yes, that's a decent enough price for one really awesome system.

Save $100 though, and get the 2500k. Unless you actually NEED 8 threads (you'd know if you did), then there's no reason for it. If you're just gaming, HT can sometimes decrease performance.

That $100 saved could get you a 60GB SSD.

I vote buy now.
If you play the waiting game, you'll always be waiting for the next thing in ~2 months, or for price drops, etc.

Man, I wish my parents would have bought me a $1600+ computer! instead I'm working/paying my own way through college...anyway, I say wait, plus why not save $100+ and get an i5 2500k? Unless you are coding or using any other application, you don't need the i7 and the i5 is a beast for gaming. But the rest of the rig looks good, but remember to get some sort of high quality cooling for your cpu (just a reminder since I didn't see it on the list)

*EDIT* ninja'd ^^ lol

Yeah I'm having second thoughts on the 2600k... If I take the $100 I save there and get say a SSD there would probably be more benefit.

As for the CPU cooler, I wasn't going to get one right now because the stock heatsink should be enough because I'm probably not going to overclock. I'm a first time builder so wanted to keep things simple

If your parents are paying for it, then let them decide when to buy it. No need to push for battles that you can avoid.

Go the i5-2500k route and put the money into a nice SSD. If you are not going to over clock then save a couple more buck and get the i5-2500, no need to buy the unlocked version if you are not going to use it, then you can save more money and get the h67 board instead of the p67 board. but then again we all get the overclock bug, lol...

If you are not overclocking you can save a lot of money, it just all depends on what you are going to do, you don't have to spend the money on something you are not going to use.

Depends what you're going to use your computer for lol. You can save a LOT of money. Or redirect funds into other performance enhancers as suggested above.
