[LR] World's First Router Cooler - Evercool Dr. Cool. - Page 6

I cannot believe people would pay money for this. An external fan won't do much if your router has poorly placed ventilation holes. That 80mm fan better be able to move a lot of air. Maybe I'm just closed minded but I don't think very many people in any demographic will bite on this.

Two years ago I cracked open my router and put heatsinks on anything that was running over 70C and that solved my router's stability issues. Kudos to those that actively cool their router... that's the kinda stuff I like to see on OCN

This reminds me of the water block for the xbox 360:

My router does get hot too, so I simply make sure it is in a place where the heat can escape.

I made my own. Cost me like $6.

Top one is my Vonage Router, middle is a Linksys shell with a 92mm fan, bottome is my WRT-54GL.

I kept having to reset both of them every few days, they had been getting hot. Since I did this, I have not had to reset either in over 6 months.

I also have put heatsinks on them both.

i have a much cheaper and better solution. get some ram sinks on those chips in the router + a hole saw and a 80mm or 92mm fan soldered to the pin header where the adapter goes.

keeps things really cool
With DD-WRT I ws running my router hotter than usual, so I hooked up a 120mm fan to a small 12v adapter and set it right beside it. That made it nice and chilly.

The way I cooled my 360 was with a netbook cooling pad plugged into the back USB port.

Haha that is awesome. Gotta love the old Linksys design.

I keep my router in the basement beside the cat litter box. It's nice and cool in the basement.
