Phenom x2 555 only at 800 MHz? - Page 2

Hi all!

I have unlocked 4 cores and running 18.5 x 200 = 3700MHz
Turned off CnQ and C1e or something in BIOS. M4A88TD-M EVO.
Other than that all is on Auto.
Also sett OC to manual and tried Automatic also at 18.5.

When i run Prime and the CPU hit about 58C, then its throttling down to 800MHz. And then throttles back up to 3.7GHz when it hits 54C.

Is there a program that can log my CPU state? Like to see if it changes when i play.
I dont what the CPU to throttle back, maybe at 63C if it must. Anything i can do?

Most phenom IIs max temp is 62c. You want to keep it under 55c.
That's normal to throttle. You can't let it just burn smile.gif
YOu need better cooling..
Add your rig in USER CP.

Thx for reply.

Put in my rig now more or less.

Im going to try 18 x 200 = 3.6GHz

Hi again!

Now im trying something else.

15,5 x 250 with CnQ and CE1. dual core. set ht and cpu/nb to 2000. memory at 1333.

read some tread about LLC, and enabled it on CPU, and CPU is set manually to 1.35V and shows 1.38V on load and 1.0V on idle (4x250 to 15,5x250) in cpu-z/ai suite. Can this set up shorten the lifespan on CPU? Or is it just high voltage peaks that can shorten it?

I have just set CPU volt to 1.35 and enabled CPU LLC. All else is on auto.

I like to use CnQ and CE1, but it will be disabled after 18,5 multiplier.

Any ideas on this set up?

Thx smile.gif

dont quite understand HTT and CPU-NB speed, but thats ok. i set them to 2000 (auto). my RAM is 1333mhz. And im going for 2 core 19,5 x 200 CnQ & C1E disabled, then i can have under 1.35v. The max temp reaches almost 50C with prime. Core temps is 12C less then.

so everything is on auto, except CPU volt and i have CPU LLC enabled.

tested without LLC, the volt dropped like crazy, not near the manual volt i set.

Now the sleep mode (S3) wont work. Computer starts, but no input signal to my monitor.

my gtx 460 also get hotter with 4 cores enabled. so im running 2 cores and the gtx 460 i have tested clock 800, mem 950, shader 1600. works great. not much heat, so i can maybe go higher.

3DMark11 basic thingy:
Overall Score P3199
Graphics Score P3495
Physics Score P2551
Combined Score P2555

it's over average by comparison to same systems tested i think.

CPU-NB aka IMC-NB (Intergrated Memory Controller / Northbridge). Data sent to the CPU is first sent to the Crossbar, which then distributes it to the different cores of the CPU. That data has instructions to either be stored in CPU Cache, go to system RAM to be stored for easy access, or be sent back out to wherever it needs to go. When it is sent to RAM, the IMC or Northbridge takes the data so that it can distribute it within RAM. If any data is to be called from RAM, the CPU requests it from the Northbridge. This data travels along the CPU to RAM on the HyperTransport bus (HT Link).

Keep HT Link at or below 2000Mhz always. HT Link (Hypertransport bus/link) will degrade performance and increase instability (due to signal degrading) beyond 2350Mhz - and there's no guarantee that yours will go that far without degrading. Having said that, there is nothing gained by overclocking the HT Link - it's merely a pipeline (albeit a pipeline used to carry data for just about everything on the board).

CPU-NB (IMC/NB) should be overclocked as high as you can get it. For each 10% you increase the CPU/NB speed, memory bandwidth is increased 3-4% and latency is reduced 3-4%. The minimum for RAM is 3x the base speed, so for example 1600Mhz RAM would be base of 800Mhz x 3 = 2400Mhz CPU-NB, but that's just for the RAM, you'll still need to close the gap for the CPU. Anywhere from 2600Mhz to 3000Mhz at 4GHZ for example. I run my CPU-NB at 3250Mhz at 4.5GHZ CPU. You may need to bump CPU-NB voltage up to reach those speeds and anywhere up to 1.5v is ok.

"Core Temp" is the only one that matters, this is your actual temp.

It's not accurate at idle, but load temps are dead on. See my guide for more information.

I'd do some more reading if I were you and set BIOS manually, don't use so much auto settings.
