http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3098#sp

Apparently matched with that board, which has no agp slots.

Hmmmmmm headscratch.gif

Turn the nine upside down.
That's a good card. You could CF a second though I am not sure prices there.

Ah if it was a 6850 then i say upgrading to a SSD is a good choice. Did you just change it to 6850 or i misread before? I guess maybe i should go to sleep biggrin.gif.

Doh. Should've realized that as I linked your motherboard on gigabyte's site.

If you are running your OS on one of those WD Greens, a SSD or faster non green hdd would be far superior for OS duty.

yea, thats what happens when you live on the underside of the world

to raid, you will lose all data that is currently on your drive, and you will need to backup all of your important data first

in bios enable the raid controller, then boot to the option to manage it, and assign the drives to stripe
boot back to bios, allow it to boot from the raid set
install windows from dvd/cd/usb (adding the driver disk when it asks for other drivers) and its good to go

Yeah I might give that a miss as they are all full of 'stuff' and don't really have anywhere to put 3tb of data,

Get a new drive for OS and just keep the data on those drives.

You could get any size HDD, just a 7200rpm or 10000rpm drive that is not a WD Green. The WD Greens are variable speed between 5400-7200rpm and will park the heads, causing long term degradation. They are slow and will wear down quicker doing OS duty. They are much better for media storage.

The newer WD Blues and Blacks are good, as are the Samsung F3s.

If you want even faster, a SSD would be a great choice for the OS, though these are significantly more expensive for the size. Much more noticeable improvement though.
