msn installation and deletion issue

Hey guys!

I have a friend that has an older Toshiba laptop an is unfortunately, almost completely computer illiterate (not totally thankfully)

the issue that has arisen, is that their version of MSN had failed for some reason, and they attempted to delete and reinstall it (not sure what 3rd party program they used) but it seems as though it didnt erase all the registry keys...

now.. I am capable of cleaning the registry manualy myself... but she isn't...

Is there a program somewhere that allows you to simply select what program you want it to sweep and delete for? if so what is it and where can I get it. (needs to be simple to use... otherswise im going to spend alot of time on the phone... she lives 4000KM away from me.. so i cant simply duck round and help her)

thanks guys!!

Remote Desktop would help in that case.
And what do you mean by MSN? MSN Messenger? Because thats soo outdated, for a few years that program is called Windows Live Messenger, downloadable via Windws Life Essentials (2011).

Other than that JVPowerTools does great job of cleaning junk, but is hard to use.
CCleaner is easy to use and could help.

Ah, sorry thats my fault there. It was windows live ( i think the latest version for XP was 8) that stuffed up. And that was what she tried to erase.

She is running XP (i think home... Could be Pro. Doesn't really matter though) Therefor the new version of Windows Live wont work. It wont even let you download it if your not running Vista or 7.

I should also point out that this laptop is considerably old and incapable of running 7... Unless some upgrades take place.. which is possible...

Remote desktop could work, if i can get her to set it up... Good idea
