i5 2500 non k overclocking - Page 3

Morning guys, im from UK so it was like 3am when I posted that and tbh... All I did was auto tune... I don't recommend it if you have custom values for your ram freq etc as I couldn't get her to boot up then I realised the ram voltage had been changed by the autotune, The voltage seemed to be 0.940 at the lowest and around 1.25 at the peak.

I've just thought not all of you will have the P8P67 so you won't have autotune...

So do this in your BIOS:
I think it set the frequency to around 4223mhz and voltage to something like 1.25 like the peak I had... But like I said i'm new so don't know what half of this means tongue.gif

I thought the non K's i5 2500 had a max multi of x37... Since that is the Turbo speed multi.

Obviously not I guess?

Probably one of Intel's sales plans. I'm not going to tune it again for a while because it took me about 10 times before the RAM voltage was right after the tune... It just would never save and kept powering down which then I guess reset the bios changes I had just made but luckily this morning I got it going again smile.gif

If you run all 4 cores, you'd only be able to get 38x multi.
Anything higher than that, and you'll be disabling cores.

On my P67A-GD55 I managed this 4GHz overclock, which was 3D stabile:
CPU-Z Validation
4GHz 3DMark11

I bought everything in my rig through work. And our supplier didn't have K chips back then. And I had to buy that week (bought with all the hours I had worked up).
Do I regret getting a Non-K? Sure. Am I looking at selling it and getting either a 2500K or 2600K? You bet!

My non k 2600 I have got it up to 4.3Ghz stable. Just adjust the multipliers of the cores to 44-43-42-41(might be lower for 2500). If you want you can mess with the BLK but I would stay away from that too much. You want to trick this thing into being in constant turbo mode for each core. Worked for me screen in my sig.

Is that with all cores loaded? Even with one core, the blck will have to be raised. That's a good clock for that chip.

I also have a 2500 but use an H67, its an underrated chip especially with quicksynch encoding a blue ray many times faster than a 5GHz 2600k. Until you can overclock the K version and have quicksynch, the nonK H67 is the better way to go. I am hoping the Z68 boards will allow quicksynch if you have a monitor hooked to the MB with the graphics card hooked to the TV and not require the stupid 3rd party virtualized environment.

I can't really remember (I don't even have the MSI board anymore, switched to a P8P67 Pro to get a B3 stepping board). Most of the settings are as you can see in the CPU-Z Validation link.
I disabled c1e, speedstep, EIST, Spread Spectrum, VDroop Control set to High, VCore 1.280v and Auto PLL Volt.
DRAM Ratio was set to what was closest to 1600MHz

BCLK 105.5 and a 38x multi.
I haven't gotten around to messing with the RAM yet.
