FBI breaking into my house sucks, but when it leads to an arrest involving child pornography, snuff films, torture films, and other internet douchebaggery, I can let it slide.
I'd assume they have different standards for copyright infringement versus real criminal activities. With a pedophile case, they usually have a sting operation happening where they've been tracking like RC for instance...?

The thing with the poster talking about car plates, is probable cause. You need the plates, description of the car, driver, etc. You cannot just willy nilly amass a list of plates then go breaking down doors.
