ATI 5770 issue...can't get PCI-E (x16)

Guys...anyone can advise...

my grpahics cannot get x16....it's onmly at x8...

did i not do something?

Check your bios settings, I believe your board only has one pcie slot, if not make sure the video card is in the slot closest to the CPU.

If neither of my suggestions help, don't worry about it much because 8x vs 16x on even a newer card will hardly make a difference.

Unless you can change it in BIOS, I would try reseating the card. Maybe some of the pci-e contacts aren't making their connection.

Maybe it is your board. Some only do support 8x. Or it is in the bios. Sorry dude

as the 5770 is only 128bit bandwidth, it does not see any advantage with x16 over x8. I am running in x8 and only noticed a 2-5% drop.

On my MB to get x16 i have to put my card in the lower slot and a switch card in the top slot. The card gets better air flow from my side mounted 200mm fan in the top slot so that is where it lives now.
