Will a 6990 pair well in Xfire with a 6970? - Page 3

Actually 6990 + unlocked 6950 is the best setup! That way you pay less!

Was it as simple as just setting the 6990 and 6970 to 900/1375 in AB and that was that? No need for voltage adjustment? I am just worried about the heat and the ref fans not doing the job.
just stock voltage(on oc switch though). i could OC it a bit more if I wanted.

im experiencing massive bottleneck on my 1090T but at eyefinity I don't think there's any bottleneck although I'm gonna upgrade my cpu asap when bulldozer gets released. if it's a flop then I'll buy a 2600k like yours

Saving 50 bucks either way is not an issue for me and makes no real difference, but I get what you are saying. I had a 6950 at first and it was not performing well at all. Although my 6970 seems to not perform that great either in comparison to others.

Y aI almost went AMD. Looking back I should of gone with an i5 2500k since i saw several test where it benched better than the 2600k. I think it has to do with hyperthreading.

For gaming you don't need HT, so save $100 and grab a 2500k.

you will also need a new PSU for a 6990 and a 6970 in triCF

I dont think I need a 1000w. everyone told me that the HX850 is plenty for most applications. I hope it is anyways.

Ya I know some turn HT off in the 2600k, and I cant return the CPU now and selling it would mean I would lose 100 so it would be a wash. No one would buy a used 2600 for retail.

A good 850W PSU will handle a HD6990 + HD6970 setup

I have HD6970 + HD6970 and an 750W PSU and I've never seen the power draw above 420W.
