[FB] Mass Effect 3 Announcement - Page 5

As much as I don't want to wait another few months for ME3, at least they'll have more time to perfect it.

Story wise, I like ME1 MUCH better than ME2. Harbinger and the collectors just didn't have the same... "power" behind the characters that Sovereign and Saren had. And, like someone said earlier, too much gametime felt devoted to babysitting party members rather than working towards the final goal in ME2.

Gameplay wise, I like ME2 better. The combat felt more streamlined between the improved cover system, regenerating health without needing to stock up on medpacs, etc. I didn't like the new ammo system, but it did make a bit more sense from a gameplay perspective.

One thing that I would like, is if they let the "Heat sink" ammo in ME3 cool down slowly over time, maybe taking a minute to recharge to full. That way you can slowly regain ammo when you're not actively fighting, but still have a way to rapidly swap heat sinks in combat.

I wish the inventory systems were more like Kotor or Da:o. The inventory management in ME1 felt cumbersome. You had an incredibly large inventory, but it just would get filled up with absolute junk, getting good armor was a by pure luck.

In ME2, there really WAS no inventory management, you could just buy or find random upgrades to what you have. That was a (small) improvement, but it really took a lot of the RPG feel away from the game.

The inventory system would have been much better if bioware would use the ME1 system, but with much less "trash" armor, and the ability to receive unique or more powerful armors and weapons from quest rewards, killing "bosses" or from various vendors

They could have kept an inventory to please the people that liked it, while also making it hassle-free for those that don't wanna be bothered by it.

Unlimited inventory space - We were already carrying hundreds of items, many of which are things like full body armor. Why did we need a limit?

An "Optimize" function - Equipping your squad with the best possible equipment for their class with a single click of a button. You can't customize your loadout for specific scenarios, but it ensures you're at least up to date.

Auto sorting - Automatically placing the best equipment at the top of each equipment slot's menu.

Stacking - Tired of scrolling through 50 duplicates of the same item? Automatically stack them as you obtain 'em.

Multi-item selection - Select any number of items you want and sell/reduce to Omni-gel all at once.

Basically, things that other RPGs have been doing for years. Inventory management in Mass Effect took a minute at most out of every hour or so of gameplay, yet instead of fixing it, BioWare threw it out the window entirely.
