Sapphire 6950 2gb Ref vs NonRef

Hey lads,

Just wondering if anyone knows if there is any quality difference between the original reference 6950's and the new model out:

I dont think the new model is unlockable? i dont really mind, just curious i suppose.
i'd be mainly interested in the overclockability etc.
Any input on this is much appreciated, Thanks alot.

It lacks the dual bios, but if you're not worried about unlocking, you should be fine.

Thanks for the reply man,
I could get the other like, but the HSF looks about 3 times better on the new model that came out there in march, i figured there wasnt much point getting an unlockable one, if the cooling is cr*p?

Edit: oh and i won't be putting it in this setup lol, bottleneck city, im completly rebuilding the sig rig,

I don't know, I've got the reference version (albeit xfx, not sapphire) and I've been VERY impressed with how cool it stays. Full load with 50% fan speed keeps it at 50C, straight up.

Maybe I'm a little biased; I came from a 4890 that was more or less like the surface of the sun.

if you are interested in the overclocking potential, definitely go for the reference version. If the cooler on ref sucks, get an aftermarket cooler, cost like 10 dollars

Where is a $10 aftermarket cooler that will work better than the stock one? The last I ever saw for that price range was decent only on Geforce 4 models.
