i recently had to get into safe mode and f8 wouldn't work. supposedly asus started assigning one of their bios keys and it conflicts with the normal 'f8' key for windows if you press it too early.

Press F8 and hold, it should work rather then repeatedly hitting F8 or just hitting it once.

ASUS?

I think it's F9 not F8, or at least that's my friend's Asus computer.

wait for the computer to POST, mash F8 afterwards? Usually does the trick.

F8 for both the Asus Crosshair IV Formula and my backup Asus M4A785-M.

I tried the F5 and it doesn't apply to either of my mobo's.

if you can boot into windows, why not just go into msconfig and go to the boot tab and select safe mode boot?

if you can't boot into windows, well then let me know because I have a similar board so I could test it.
