[DT]WP7 Users Who Obtained Unofficial Updates Now Stuck, MS Says "We Warned You"

By using an unsupported method to force build 7390 onto their phones, customers did not obtain an official OS image. As a result, these devices CANNOT be upgraded to build 7392 or any other future version of Windows Phone 7.
Quote:
Watson goes on to add that while Microsoft may have a change of heart and help out stranded users at a later date with a software fix don't hold your breath. The people that created the unofficial tool to allow a force update to build 7390 are working to help fix the problem they have caused. "We will work with them to validate their solution and applaud the team for taking responsibility to do this," Watson added.
Actually kind of cool that Microsoft might work to save them though, if it actually is a problem.

but couldn't they use their same trickery to upgrade to 7392?
nevertheless, this is not the way a company has enthusiasts buy their products.

I'm glad I have a Pre, which if you do funky stuff to the OS, you just run the webOS doctor to do a complete wipe/reinstall of the system.

Not buying a phone until they become less proprietary and I can just buy the parts, assemble it myself, and put any goddamn OS I please on it, then connect it to any network that will take my money.
