Today on my travels I discovered an ancient artifact. Harking from the year 2005, a dark and dismal time.
What's this? A glimmer of hope? An actual original concept for a game?! Where Valve got the idea for the Portal?
It's called Narbacular Drop, the first half of the name isn't even a real word. It was created to help assist in search traffic. Since the high from beating the Portal 2 is wearing off for some, this should get you through the hump.
Legend has it, that the developers of ND were college students showing off their game at Digipen. When who should roll up on them but Valve themselves.
"Come see the wizard of Valve, Gabe Newell!" They said.
Long story short, Gabe saw it, Gabe loved it, Gabe hired them.
The Portal was made.
This little prototype is actually quite playable and hard as nails. For those who want to delve a bit deeper into their Portal addiction, I suggest giving it a shot.
AND, people are still making custom maps for the game! There's tons out there, but I'll give you the link to one of the main map sites.
