Overclocking with Limitations (me and my System!) - Page 3

NO NO NO AND NO.

Do not get an MSI board, especially the one linked above with a 4+1 power phase. MSI boards are most known to fail because they do not have any VRM protection. The following board will suite your needs:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16813131668R

The board being Asus sports very nice VRM protection to keep those in check. Also the VRM's are a 8+1 phase and they are heatsinked. I don't think you'll find a better deal than the one above.

Do not get any 4+1 phase boards as they are going to be little if any benefit from what you already have.

He speaks the truth. Check out xd_1771's thread on exploding VRMs for proof of MSI suckage.

I guess an ASUS would be better suited then.
I should have got more info before recommending the MSI.

And yes, as long as they're both DDR3 then certainly it works.

I have this one...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811517015
the specs say that the board in question will work, but man! there seems to be very little room inside there! IIt's in stock configuration with nothing added to it. I would like to add a better cpu cooler though.

Yeah, that case will fit an ATX motherboard like the ones linked before. A good cpu cooler is the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835209049 that was linked earlier too. I would go for it.

I see you're strapped for cash (in a sense anyway lol) so maybe you would wanna go for the H50 instead of the H60?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-010-_-Product

I use it and dont exceed 59c with an extra 1 Ghz on my cpu. Especially good if you go for that rebate AND it's free shipping.

Get this motherboard. Nearly all m-ATX motherboards have 3+1 or 4+1 VRM's. Which is very bad. If you want to properly overclock your 1090T you need a good 8+2 VRM motherboard.

Good cooler thats more expensive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-010-_-Product
