Laptop won't turn on! :( [Solved]

I got my MSI GT680r today from xoticpc. I turned it on and messed with it just to make sure it worked. Then I popped open the back and put in my Corsair F90 SSD. Now it won't turn on. The power button doesn't do anything. When I plug in the wall outlit the battery charging indicator light appears, but It still won't turn on. One time, the power button briefly lit up, but it quickly went out. I tried putting back the old hard drive but it doesn't help. frown.gif

Does anyone have any ideas? What should I do? There was a sticker on back that said warranty void if sticker tampered with. It looked like it had already been cut though, so I assumed that xoticpc did it when they added thermal paste.

This was the fix:

I fixed it! So, when I unscrewed the backing the first time, I accidentally took out an extra screw. It got thrown into the cup with all the other ones. When I reassembled, I grabbed a longer screw to screw back in. Apparently there is no backing behind the screw hole, so when I screwed it in, it made contact with the motherboard near the battery supply area. That was my issue. I simply replaced the screw with the shorter one, and everything works now!

I feel really dumb redface.gif but i'm hella happy:D

Moral of the story, keep track of your screws.

You will have to contact them and get it fixed. If the sticker was already torn, then they performed after market upgrades. We do the same thing, but we would just remove the sticker entirely.

Try taking out the battery, pressing the power button for 15 seconds, and then trying to boot.

I tried the 15 second power button thing. No luck.

Is there anything else I could do?

Also, were the warranty stickers from MSI or xoticpc? I took a picture of it before I did anything.

MSI, they all have that sticker, the whitebook versions are the only ones that dont void your warranty.

I called xoticpc and left a message. Hopefully they will help me. I find it hard to believe that I screwed it up. All I did was swap hard drives...

take the battery out and plug it into the wall with the power cord and turn it on without the battery and see if it turns on, if it does, it's just your battery needs to be fully charged
