Want a cookie? I worked for Verizon for more than 3 years and now work for Sprint. I'm sure I've had my hands on far more Androids than you.

Depends on the price and what you need them for.

Well that's great for you? I listed my credentials because you seemed to thonk I've never used sense which I have. And blur and touchwiz

No. No one in their right mind will pick up a 5870 now when they can get a 6950. And a sgs2 runs extreme circles around a Droid x. Smaller screen but better screen and way better performance. Not mention its lighter. Go ahead be e guest go on and purchase an old phone. I'm just passing credible advice, its not like I deal with things like this on a daily basis in terms of phones, no that can't be true at all.

If you depend on manufacturer updates, you're about as stupid (not aiming this at you) as someone who buys alienware pcs. My friend has had 2.3 for a very long time... On his vibrant that is.

And btw, no not all 465s unlock. That would have best been served by 6950 and 6970. Which still isn't true here.

You're really comparing, oh hey guise, should I get a 5870 (Droid x) to a 6990 (samsung galaxy s2).

Sure man why not, go ahead.
Well it's actually not stupid waiting for manufacturer updates when your waiting for a big update for example like a fully functional 2.2 update for the Epic/Transform. Before anyone over at xda/sdx can improve these roms they wait for a fully working one but it's kinda hard to do that when it bricks their phone.

Sure some people over at sdx-developers worked on 2.2 before it was released but they had bugs. Before I bought an Evo I was using a Samsung Moment which had 2.2.1 on it but the phone's accelerometer wasn't working. Compass along with GPS weren't also working.

Of course a stock HTC phone with sense would die quickly... Thats why people head over to XDA! Calkulin released this awesome Rom called EviO which has Sense but battery life last forever.

I would personally recommend a Samsung Galaxy S #1 if you can't get your hands on a S2.

Gingerbread is starting to roll out for it officially now and pretty much all the bugs are gone.

GPS Works as it should and the phone runs nice and smoothly.

Of course there are plenty of custom roms about which are nice also.

As for the person saying about which bricking the phone, well they must be doing something wrong. As long as you read the instructions carefully you can't go wrong. Its no harder than installing windows on a pc.

Power wise i find it fast enough. I don't play many games, but everything I've thrown at it works. And i can get two days out of the battery with ease if im not constantly on Facebook.

Samsung recalled the first Android 2.2 update for the Transform/Epic because they were bricking phones... Everyone was updating correctly, after 2 months Samsung released a proper Android 2.2.2 that worked properly.

Edit: The 2.2 Update was bricking Transform phones but the Epic had some major issues so they pulled they update off their site but they released a working one March 21st I believe.

Ah right.

My bad, i thought you were talking about the galaxy.

To be fair i think Samsung had a rocky start in android but they have definitely got better.

Hmmmm, I have been playing around with it and I may return it. It seems that I can not connect to the data network with this phone.

The web browsing is fine. I can't find the video playback.... but the speaker is nice. Camera is excellent but I'm coming from a Iphone 3G so anything new now would be fantastic.

The screen it self is absolutely amazing. I Just wished this baby had a bit more weight to it... seems a bit flimsy
