Can't get stable past 4.5ghz 2500k

Hi guys!

Trying to get my SB stable at around 4.8ghz and just can't seem to get there.

My settings I have tried are:

If I have not listed something I have left it on auto.

Ratio:48
PLL overvolt enable
Turbo boost manual 255,255
max power 300
blck 100
Spread spectrum disabled
CPU core 1.45V
LLC level 5
CPU PLL 1.70-1.85

At these settings the PC will boot fine but BSOD with a 124 as soon as load is put on it.

Any suggestions?

weird.. and that's a lot of voltage.. what's your vdroop like?

EDIT: for overclocks reachable on air I'm pretty sure the power settings and turbo settings can be left on auto.
I'm running 1.29v at 4.5 and 1.32 at 4.7 with everythnig on out except ram voltage, vcore, turbo, etc.. no power settings like max power or anything. This is on a p8p67.

At 4.5 its pretty minimal. It stays right around 1.3v

VCore is really high for that clock. You should be able to get 5ghz with that. What are you runnung your RAM at? I underclocked mine to 800 mghz until I found a stable CPU clock. Just eliminates one more thing that can shake things up.

I'm not really familiar with ASRock BIOS settings but I'm betting LLC 5 is the highest setting. You shouldn't need to set it that high unless you're going for 5+. 1.45 vcore with 100% LLC is not recommended for 24/7 overclock.

Why should LLC not be left on for a 24/7 clock?

The thing is when LLC is enabled it can boost other voltages like qpi/vtt and PCH. Does your bios give you live voltage readings on such values?

You might want to observe your voltages with LLC enabled vs disabled.

That is strange... I was able to hit right under 4.7ghz with 1.248v and never went over 66c. I still have plenty of room to go.
