If some part of your GPU is hitting 100*C, you need to RMA.

Im thinking its definitely a defect 5 minutes into CRYSIS 2... my 3 gpus temperatures on my "sensors" tab in GPUZ read 79.9 99.7 and 100.4.....

Definitely something going on with the VRMS... sooo I've been approved for an RMA... Im just going with the BLUE PCB SAPPHIRE 6970 as that is what I originally wanted but I can't catch it with my refund money in stock.. So I will just be patient and purchase it when its in stock...

Funny, the card you're getting is what I just RMA'd for the lightning. Are you getting hit with the restocking fee or are they taking it as defective for free?

Sometimes you just get bad cards, dont let it ruin you on the lightning. Mine turned out great, your next one could be as well. The same thing happened with the first 5870 soc I got. Had lots of problems so RMA'd next soc rocked.
I would get one more to be sure

I am very pleased with the fans on the MSI as they dont get loud at all even at like 75-80 percent its fine. but whats the point when a SAPPHIRE blue pcb 6970 will keep the card under 70c on AUTO setting (inaudible) and stock voltage overclock higher... and on a voltage change can damn well go near 1000 if not exceed it on core clock... SAPPHIRE TRIXX blows MSI afterburner out of the water...

EDIT: there is a reason why NEW EGG cant even keep enough of the BLUE PCBS in stock... there going off the shelves like hot cakes..

Not true in my experience. That sapphire blue pcb card was very audible starting at 30% fan for me. In the 30-40% range, there is a high pitched whine as well. It would keep the card cooler than the lightning on stock settings, but the expense of sound. It was louder than the reference 4870x2 that I have on stock settings. Either that, or my sapphire was defective and I'm paying a restocking fee for nothing. I do believe the sapphire blue pcb is a great card if you want to go with an aftermarket cooler.

well run furmark at stock settings and see if you get errors
if you do,then RMA is the only option
or you can replace it (dont know much about these procedures)
