Amen. I'm loving mint linux's elegance, long time ubuntu user here (4 years?) and been using linux all my life, but mint is the most polished I've seen yet I think, since they base it off of ubuntu releases and then add a bit more polish and awesomeness to it.
To everyone: Anything can be hacked, specifically when the user is stupid, but linux has at least a solid framework that does two things, not always make the user require their password *cough* UAC *cough* to run every other app out there, and secondly if you do get a virus, unless you let it have access to your rarely granted root privileges, there is only so much that the virus will have access to on your computer, easily removed, with a simple removal of the account as it has no access to the system files. The whole concept of how linux is designed and run, from using /etc/ instead of some ridiculous registry to the complete controllability of it makes linux easier to protect, and if someone ever did start attacking it, which for now is completely implausible due to obscurity, it would be much easier to secure, and there are such a huge number of developers out there it would be extremely difficult to keep up with the patches.
Is unhackable, but Linux's kernel and whole design has been implemented to make it as difficult to hack and as fixable as possible.Edited by MrTolkinghorn - 5/4/11 at 9:54pm
