Athlon x3 455 issue

I have the Athlon X3 455 and I've managed to unlock the 4th core and make it stable at 3.6GHz. The thing is though, I have to keep the multiplier/voltage to auto for it to post. When the 4th core is unlocked it gives me the option to change the multiplier, but I've left it at default and only changed the voltage but it doesn't boot no matter what the voltage is. When it is a 3 core, the multiplier is unchangeable and boots fine with higher volts. Is there anyway I can get this to post as a quad core with a voltage change? Basically if I turn the multiplier/voltage option to anything but auto it won't post with the 4th core unlocked.

The board is a ASRock 880GM-LE.

EDIT:

According to this guide: http://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/10...ence-list.html

This CPU should unlock to an Athlon II x4 B45, but CPUZ is showing a Phenom II x4 B55, which according to the guide is originally a Phenom II X2 555 BE.

^ very odd..

I'm not very sure about what happens with your rig without aditional tests, but here's an idea: it may be that upon unlocking the 4th core it also unlocks the L3 cache and thus becomes a Phenom II. This is easy to check using CPUz or something like a game bench that sees a boost in framerate form L3 cache.
A thought: probably changing multiplier or Vcore interfears with the board's ability to unlock cores. It probably shouldn't and in this case they should release a BIOS update to correct things. Some boards (when unlocking) lift up the Vcore and/or VNB a bit to stabilise at the new core count.

I figured out how to deal with the voltage. I just used some software to change it from windows. Works fine.. but now I'm really curious to why it shows up as a Phenom II x4 B55. Also no L3 cache has been unlocked... This isn't the processor it's suppose to unlock to..
very weird in my opinion..
