Check the power and sata connections at the hdd, and follow the sata cable from the hdd and make sure it is plugged into the motherboard. look in the bios to see if the hdd is detected, it should also show up on the post/splash screen when you first turn on the pc.

ok thank you all for your help... I found the 1st problem. when I removed the hard drive there was no sata connection to the motherboard only the power supply, (ebay computer sales) next time I will build myself.....

I used the SATA cable from the dvd and was able to boot machine and windows was installed already.

Now I am still not able to boot the machine if I put the 2nd stick of RAM in so I am running on only one 4gb stick of GSkill Ripjaws X.

Any suggestions on what I need to do so I can use all 8GB of RAM?

You can try raising the dram voltage until it boots. Use + and- to increase/decrease the values.

Swap the one stick for the other and try booting with single stick again...if it doesnt boot then it's most likely a bad stick of memory..

what does this mean I dont understand? I tried switching the RAM it works fine and boots with either stick alone.

What should I try now ?
