unhappy with new monitor :(

Thread Starter
So i recently bought the monitor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...hanns%20g%2027

and I feel unhappy with it for some reason. It's a great monitor, very big and clear picture. But.... I think i'm unhappy with it because of the 1920x1200 res and how it has a smaller FOV in games compared to 1080P monitors, and I am an FOV whore. Also this thing is so big it gives me eye strain and can't play for very long without my eyes hurting.

What do you think I should do? I don't want to lose over $50 having to ship everything back to newegg and the 15% restocking fee, but if it's what I gotta do, then it's what I gotta do.

can't you lower the contrast and brightness setting? that usually helps with eye strain.

To be honest I don't know what to say, all the things that make this monitor good are what you are complaining about. Is there any way to manually set a different FOV? You could have purchased a smaller model if you didn't want a 27", and also the higher resolution is something you paid extra for.

Try to pawn it off on someone locally through Craigslist or something.

How close do you sit to it? Something with that low of a PPI an arms length away would drive me crazy.

Next time buy from Amazon, they pay for return shipping and have no restocking fee.

Also in 16:10 you see everything (and more) that you would see in 16:9... so I don't really consider your major complaint a very good one... Eyes hurting also isn't a good complaint, turn the brightness down some.. or sit back a little more.

If these are your reasons for not liking a monitor, seems like you just regret spending the money.. because they aren't very good complaints. No offense.

It's actually reverse. Don't let the 16:10 vs 16:9 numbers fool you. Forget pixels, we're talking FOV. In most if not all games, 16:9 is wider than 16:10 meaning 16:10 is not taller than 16:9.

This I know some people like the smaller fov. It actually makes a clearer/more detailed picture. But I like larger fov
