Try calibrating it, I always use this site and it helps a lot having a correctly calibrated monitor.

and I feel unhappy with it for some reason. It's a great monitor, very big and clear picture. But.... I think i'm unhappy with it because of the 1920x1200 res and how it has a smaller FOV in games compared to 1080P monitors, and I am an FOV whore. Also this thing is so big it gives me eye strain and can't play for very long without my eyes hurting.

What do you think I should do? I don't want to lose over $50 having to ship everything back to newegg and the 15% restocking fee, but if it's what I gotta do, then it's what I gotta do.

Return it! 1920x1200 is not ideal for gaming and if it bothers you then you should return it as fast as possible cause it will only get worse as the transition to 16:9 continues. The 27 1920x1080 monitors are a little bit cheaper so it should get even. You maybe should consider IPS or something smaller because of your eye strain.
