Sounds like there is a problem with your computer and or network.
Same here. Never had an issue with their launcher.

I've been playing Rift at a casual pace with several friends for a little over a month now. Being a veteran WoW player (3 seasons of gladiator, did all high-end vanilla wow raids and most BC/WotlK stuff) I am finding Rift to be a fun slight change of pace. Its gameplay is very similar to WoW in a lot of areas, but it does have a few of its own innovations like rift invasions and the soul trees. I think most of the reason for me playing Rift over WoW has a lot to do with fatigue and I don't personally like the direction they have taken WoW over the last two expansions.

I've noticed that Trion seems to be listening to constructive customer complaints on their forums which is always good. The upcoming patch notes are indicative of this and they are constantly pushing out content updates. Leveling in this game for me feels less painful than it does in WoW overall; mostly because of invasions and rift events which I enjoy. I'd say this game has a good chance of having some staying power, although I would liked to have seen them push the game's release back a few more months to give it a little more content and some extra polish, but I don't see this game going downwards any time soon, at least until SW:ToR and GW2 come out.

As someone else said above, if you disliked WoW, chances are you may not like Rift as its leveling is very similar. However, rift invasions and a higher level of challenge IMO make it a more fun and interesting game to level in than WoW.
