775 on 1156?

Thread Starter
Might be getting a block, is there anything wrong with fitting a 775 to an 1156?

I would use my Dark Knight backplate, and then pro it out, What else is there to look out for?

or is it just daft.

It should work assuming your CPU heatsink is not too old. When I made the switch I just got some long screws and nuts instead of getting a new backplate.

So all I'd have to use is the long screws and springs from my DK and then its good to go, there wont be any problems with surface contact?

Thanks btw

I stabbed the screws through small squares of electrical tape to prevent surface contact.

I did mean surface contact with the Chip, but does that mena the screws are of a differnt thickness?

Contact with the chip? Different thickness? No .. not sure where u are getting that from. I simply used electrical tape to prefent the screws/nuts from making direct contact with the mobo.

When I moved to 1156, I just got a 755 back plate (like this one http://www.dazmode.com/store/index.p...roducts_id=310)

and some long bolts, few plastic washers and a few nuts.

even though you could probably get away with no back plate, just nuts/bolts, but I preferred using a back plate to reduce strain on the motherboard.
