AMD CPUs drop in price

Thread Starter
Hello!
Yesterday I noticed two AMD Chipsets of the 900 Series were released and MSI already got two motherboards for the 990FX chipset. And on the exact day the prices of the higher end CPUs dropped immensely. This all happened over-night. I'm checking the prices everyday, since I can't wait for the new Zambezi processors from AMD.
Does AMD try to sell as much as possible from the older generation to make room for the new one and put these APUs up for sale with the same price like the older CPUs were?
Is this pure speculation or could there be something behind it?
Rumors say that Bulldozers will be released on June 20th 2011, but why do the release the new chipsets and let the older generation of CPUs drop?

I hope AMD is going to release their Zambezi as soon as possible.

I didn't find any English-speaking stores yet, but I did find these new motherboards in Austria and Germany.

Listing them first thing in the AMD mobo power phase list
Thanks! I'm excited Do you have any pics? I want to know about what is the power phase on these! i.e. did they finally upgrade the GD80 to an 8+2

Yeah the 955 is down to $120 in most markets

to anwser the price drop question yes they do.

2 weeks before Athlon 64 3200 and FX51 released the Athlon XP 3200 dropped from 219 to 129. The AThlon XP 2600 Barton that I wanted went from 139 to 79 dollars 2 weeks prior.

I also remember 3 weeks before Phenom launch Athlon 64 6400 229 and dropped to 169. So yes AMD does this to clear stock.
