Hey, if the following is to be believed, my estimates might even be on the high side:
amd-performance-fusion.jpg

AMD always prices comparable chips just a little bit lower than Intel. If you ignore the 3DMark Vantage score (discrete HD 6670 vs Intel's joke of a GMA HD 3000), the PCMark Vantage score of the i7-2600K is around the same as the 8-core FX.

Basically, I just expect to see the following match-ups:
i3-2120/i5-2300 vs FX-4110
i5-2500/2500K vs FX-6110
i7-2600 vs FX-8110
i7-2600K vs FX-8130P

One good thing about Bulldozer, given the way it was designed, after they've mostly recouped initial costs, it probably won't be as expensive to manufacture as Phenom II.

Actually, I could well believe those slides came from AMD given the emphasis on balanced computing. The standing of Llano APU's are also in line with performance estimates.

I think those are already pretty good. Until NDA has been lifted and we see actual benchmarks, I'm not going to raise my expectations. If Bulldozer performs better, then great. If it doesn't then at least I won't be one of the people saying it's a fail because it didn't meet my unreasonably high expectations.

Well I think so close to launch we actually know a lot about Bulldozer.

It is going to compete very nicely with 2600K at the same price points eg 320 USD or about there.

BUT, what will AMD do when Intel rolls out the SB-E "extreme" CPUs eg don't forget that these Sandy Bridge chips like 2600K are just "mainstream" performance for now while Bulldozer is supposed to be AMD "extreme" segment etc. !

Eg there is no way that AMD buldozer will compete with sandy bridge E processors when bulldozer can barely beat the 2600k !

Also take into consideration that AMD needs a TDP of 125W and 8 cores to beat 2600k sandy with a tdp of 95w and only 4 cores !

This means AMD = pretty fail to me. But we will see because I really want to end this intel monopoly.

I don't think there's anything mainstream about the 2600K.... Just saying. The 2500 (non K) is probably more targeted for mainstream consumers (but why get a 2500 when you can get the 2500K for like $10 more).

EDIT: Just like there's nothing mainstream about the i7-920, the i5-750 took the mainstream/lower enthusiast spot.

Yeah, but this way your choice is easy. If you want to use integrated graphics, you go with one socket. Otherwise you go with the other. There's far less crossover, and thus a smaller chance of wanting to upgrade later.

Lol. We know almost nothing about Bulldozer. Your rant is invalid.

Have there been sufficient benchmarks from bulldozer to prove this?
