AMD Zambezi/Bulldozer question - Page 3

Lets see how they perform i am sick of this X6 i want a 4 core CPU with good clocks games do not profit from more then 4 cores so i am moving to FX4100 or X4 970/975BE

EDIT: Just like there's nothing mainstream about the i7-920, the i5-750 took the mainstream/lower enthusiast spot.
Well to be honest I think it sits like this :

Intel LGA 1366 is for extreme -> Intel LGA 2011 is for extreme ( not released yet )
Intel LGA 1156 is for mainstream -> Intel LGA 1155 is for mainstrea ( Sandy )

The table looks interesting. FX-6110 might compete with i5-2500K?

The 125w TDP is still there.

It seems like those are wholesale prices for 1000 units..... That said it's still a bit weird that it's only $20 more for 2 more cores. I don't think they're going to sell many X4 units if the MSRP follows that kind of pricing.

Just a suggestion, AMD are basing their performance on Turbocore 2 which is working from TDP. Both the 4 and 6 core are 95w models. The less cores that are running, the higher the Turbocore will run. So maybe the 4 core will have a higher Turbocore over all cores than the 6 core, which in terms of stock performance (how 99% of users would use it anyway) means the 4 core would be faster than the 6 core in single thread.

Of course the other thing is that is that none of pricing slides have any clock info on them anyway, the 4 core could be clocked 400Mhz higher than the 6 core for all we know, or it could all be BS.

wild speculation :
1 - yields are very good
2- AMD wants people to use six cores than quads

with less cores you can better OC at same wattage, but it´s not always true - Deneb vs Thuban have similar OC

Yeah I don't expect the different core size chips to really overclock all that different. Stock may be another story, however if those are whole sale prices the 4 core chip is going to be more than the i5-2500k which went for $206 or $216 whole sale, then retailed for $226.

$230-$240 retail for the bulldozer quad?
