If you need a fridge, or your food sits on the kitchen table and goes to waste, then you don't have a choice.

While I agree that they have the right to put a killswitch (not the webcam/data spying crap) on "their" computers, this is a seriously illegal concept of doing it behind peoples backs and I hope they get a whole phonebook thrown at them. Repeatedly.

This reminds me of the that school district IT Nazi that was spying on highschool kids thru their laptops. The school then used captured data to punish kids for bad behavior. I wonder what happened in that case? All I remember is the feds got involved and the !@#$ hit the fan.

I hope this puts them out of business. Who rents to own? It costs 4x as much as buying new to "rent to own" a used product. The "new" products are about 5x the price of waltzing over to Wal-Mart and buying it in the box.

You can find a cheap ugly fridge on Craigslist 90% of the time for less than $50. If not, you can call local appliance repair centers and get a used one until you can afford a shiny new one. There's no need to sign into an agreement and pay several hundred dollars a month to "rent" a fridge.

Oh, for crying out loud, I'm trying to find a justifiable example here and everyone treats like there isn't, but surely there is because these places are obviously in business.

As far as rent to own goes, nothing is black and white, there are so many obstacles in which people have to rent to own. Renting a fridge for a month doesn't cost hundreds, you're looking at maybe $80-$100 a month and though I agree if you can save money to get a new fridge at any point you can send the rentals back, no questions.
I myself several years back had to get a fridge from Rent A Center, I had a crap job, no money, no friends and no way to get a fridge to my apartment. I called, they brought one over, hooked up and that was it. People do what they have to do to get by, especially if you have kids.

Sorry, that was way off topic, but spying is spying, especially when the consumer doesn't know. With all the technology in this day and age it is getting harder and harder to protect your privacy. Scum like Aaron's should be sued out of business.

The justifiable reason would be convenience.

The only reason to rent a PC is if you only have a short term need for one. An entire new computer and monitor can be had for $400. Renting and paying the same cost of a new computer would be classified as a poor decision in my book.

Absolutely, a rental should only be a short term thing, otherwise the mark up and interest will triple it's retail cost when all is said and done.
