decision - 120gb vertex3 or 160gb x-25m - same price

decision - 120gb vertex3 or 160gb x-25m - same price. both are around 270.00 here in canada. other then write speeds being faster on vertex, scores for old intel drive are still pretty solid, opinions?

The random writes on the intel are faster. I would go with the x25

not quite sure about the vertex3 120gb being a no brainer, if it was the 240 gb model... which performs way better then the 120gb vertex3. ive heard 120gb vertex3 is held back similiar to the 120 version of the 510 intel series.. inferior compared to the 240gb models,

I stand corrected, and this review should tell you everything you need to know about 240GB vs 120GB, but vs X25-M, I'd still go with the Vertex 3.

I've had 2 X25-M G2s fail on me recently, so I can't recommend them anymore.

Will be grabbing a 240GB Vertex3.

I did some reading, and unless you're doing some ridiculous amount of IO, you'll never even come close to 50% of the cap of even the regular Vertex 3. For home use and gaming especially. If you're having 100s of computers accessing your machine simultaneously, then maybe consider it.

Not too sure you will see the difference in real terms but will look good on bench tests!
