Buying new sound card, budget $100-$200

Thread Starter
Hello, I'm looking for some advice on my next sound card. I have a 6 year old x-fi that is finally crapping out and I want to replace it.

I'm looking for something to handle a 5.1 system on windows 7 64. Budget is $100 to $200. Hopefully it's a "common" card that a place like Frys would have because I want to pick one up today after work

Another feature I would love to have would be a remote control, so I could lay on the couch and adjust the volume (do they even make those?)

Card would be for gaming movies and music, the whole nine yards.

Thanks for any help. So far I'm leaning towards another x-fi but I'm open to all options as long as it has good driver support!

If 5.1 isn't important to you: Titanium HD for sure if you're that serious about FPS Gaming. Also does well in the music section. I believe frys just had a super deal on it..they may still have that deal..where you can get that card for 99 dollars after rebate.

If 5.1 is a necessity: Look into the HT Omega Claro PLUS+.
