The gigabyte version. Just save up for a 6870! Much more power.

Use there compare option to atleast see what each offers-also check warrenty-but i would stick with gigabyte or Asus. And if your dead set on not waiting or saveing up for a better card-check out the 5850 too, between the too, i like the 5850 better.

Also you can use pricewatch.com check out other online retailers for a good deal on the 6850/6870 or the 5850/5870.

which 6870 would you recommend? These all have good ratings

Do what I didn't do. Spend that extra $40-50 on a superior graphics card.

6850: $170
6870: $200
6950: $240
6950 2gb: $275

6850 vs 6870

6870 vs 6950 2gb

6870 may be perfect for you though, Other's might be overkill for what you do, but IDK what you do. A little more future proof is always nice, though.

Brand is personal pref imo, i usually go for sapphire because they generally have better HSF's on their cards, some go for the asus for the volt tweak, others go for the lifetime RMA..but i don't see the point in this, who the hell has a gpu longer then a year or 2 at this stage anyway, etc.

Ideally i'd go for the 6950 2gb if you can swing it, i just ordered one for my rebuild, else id defo get the 6870 over the 6850, noticable difference for a tiny bit extra cash.

I can afford the 6950, but I'm not sure if I'll be needing it. Here are the three that looked good.

But they're all out of stock Would you get the sapphire? I don't really know how to unlock the card but will figure that out once the computer is built. Also, since newegg is out of stock, any place other than Amazon to buy these from?

He probably should, but he also said it's too expensive.

GIGABYTE 6870

You are pretty much getting a decent aftermarket cooler on the 6870 without paying for it. Gigabyte is very trusted in these part's, I've learned, aswell.

This is just personal preference:

1: Only buy the reference version of those if your going to try unlock the shaders, and/or buy an aftermarket cooler for it, because those chipset-sized HSF's are ..bad.

This is not personal preference, its common sense
2: The actual gaming performance increase from unlocking the card ranges on Avg from 1-10 fps, And if you search for "6950 bricked after unlock" you'll get quite an amount of returns, even here i've seen countless people making threads about their cards going berserk after a month or 2 (varies) after unlocking the shaders via 6970 bios, as they do not have the same VRAM.

My own conclusion: The 6950 2gb is more then capable of maxing out virtually all games on a single monitor just as it is.
